Katrina Kaif was a hard worker?
While Bollywood star Katrina Kaif needed to work on her birthday earlier this week, colleague Priyanka Chopra has managed to take time off, jetting to Thailand for a girls-only party.
Katrina may be a hard worker, so birthdays keep working and do not leave
The actress, who turns 28 today, is on a five-day-long getaway to the beach resort of Phuket.
"I'm having a super time with my gals," she said on her Twitter page this morning, without saying where exactly she was, but had indicated in an earlier Tweet that she was headed to the beach.
“I can’t wait! I’ve had the bikinis for months, but I can’t wear them in Mumbai!"
But friends confirmed she had gone to Thailand.
"Priyanka has gone to Phuket with six of her friends... all girls! She will celebrate her birthday there... her schedule was planned to make sure she got the time off," the IANS news service quoted an anonymous friend of the actress as saying.
Chopra has an action-packed schedule. Besides working on her forthcoming films Anjaana Anjaani and Saat Khoon Maaf, she's got several new films lined up.
For Anurag Basu's Silence, she will check into a mental health institution to study the finer points of psychological behaviour.
"I will begin shooting for Anurag Basu's film in January 2011 after I complete Don 2. And yes, I'm setting aside time to prepare for the part. I will need special training to be adept at playing the character. How many actors from my generation get challenges like this? If I'm being given the opportunity, I better make the most of it," she said.
But while she's on holiday, she's afraid she may not be able to rest her voice.
"I had to scream so hard for a sequence in Saat Khoon Maaf, I lost my voice. Now, being in the water constantly while on holiday is not going to help my throat one bit," Mumbai newspaper Mid-Day quoted her as saying.
Workhorse Katrina
Contrast that with Katrina Kaif, who turned 26 on Friday.
Like every year, she wanted to celebrate it with her family and close friends.
But work commitments meant she needed to report for work in Spain, on the sets of Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Doobara.
The other actors who are in Spain shooting for the same film are Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar.
"I want to do some really challenging films in the next year, and I want the films that I’m doing now to do well, of course! And personally, in my life, what I hope to achieve is some sense of stability, and... happiness. I think that’s important," she told The Times of India.
While there have been reports of a surprise birthday party planned by the other actors, Kaif was happiest because her sisters jetted in to spend the day with her.
"I think I am where I need to be, and I’m with my sisters – they’ve come down from London – so I’m happy! And I’m where I should be; I’m working, and this is where I want to be," she said.
